Ingredients

Chicken double-dip coating
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts Pounded to even thickness for uniform crisping.
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 3 large eggs Beaten.
  • vegetable oil for pan-frying For frying; use enough to reach about 1/2 inch in the skillet.
Honey garlic sauce
  • 0.333 cup honey
  • 4 garlic cloves Minced.
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • sesame seeds For garnish.
  • green onions Sliced for garnish.

Equipment

  • 1 cast iron skillet
  • 1 saucepan

Method

Double-dip the chicken
  1. Mix all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly combined for a seasoned coating.
  2. Dredge each chicken breast in the seasoned flour, pressing lightly so it adheres.
  3. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, letting excess drip off.
  4. Dredge again in the seasoned flour to form the double-crunch coating.
Pan-fry until golden and crisp
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F.
  2. Pan-fry the chicken for 5-6 minutes per side, turning once, until deep golden, crunchy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F; drain on a rack or paper towels.
Make the honey garlic glaze
  1. Simmer honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, butter, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy.
  2. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the hot crispy chicken so it glazes and clings immediately.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, then serve immediately.

Notes

For the crunchiest results, keep the coated chicken at room temperature while the oil heats and avoid stacking as it fries—crispness is best right after glazing. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat in a hot oven or skillet to help re-crisp (microwaving softens). Freezing is not recommended because the coating loses its crunch; dietary swap: use tamari instead of soy sauce for gluten-free.
