Ingredients

Holiday Butter Board
  • 1 cup salted butter Softened to room temperature so it spreads easily.
  • 2 tbsp honey Drizzle over the butter right before serving.
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries Chopped for even bites.
  • 0.25 cup pistachios Chopped.
  • 1 tsp orange zest Use finely grated zest.
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary Finely chopped.
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt Sprinkle on top as a finishing touch.
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes Add for subtle heat and color.
  • 1 baguette or crusty sourdough Torn or sliced for swiping.

Equipment

  • 1 wooden board

Method

Make the butter board
  1. Spread the softened salted butter across a wooden board with the back of a spoon, making swooshes and swirls.
  2. Drizzle the honey over the butter in a thin, even layer.
  3. Scatter the chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly over the top.
  4. Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes scattered across the surface.
  5. Serve immediately with the torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping.

Notes

Pro tip: let the butter soften at room temperature until it spreads with gentle pressure—this is what creates clean swooshes. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 2 days; bring to room temperature 10–15 minutes before serving again. Freezing is not recommended because toppings can lose texture. For a lighter option, use half butter and half Greek yogurt stirred until spreadable, then assemble the same way.
