Ingredients

Apples
  • 3 large apples Peeled, cored, and sliced into wedges.
Butter and sugar coating
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter Melted.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
Serving
  • 1 vanilla ice cream For serving.
  • 1 caramel sauce For serving.

Equipment

  • 1 air fryer

Method

Coat the apples
  1. Toss the apple wedges with melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until evenly coated.
Air-fry
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes to get it hot before cooking.
  2. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the basket and cook at 375°F for 10 minutes.
  3. Shake the basket halfway through, then continue air-frying for 2 more minutes at 375°F until caramelized and tender with crisp edges.
  4. If your air fryer is crowded, work in batches so the apples brown instead of steaming.
Serve
  1. Serve the apples warm over vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce immediately.

Notes

For the best caramelization, use a single layer with space between wedges; if needed, batch-cook so edges get crisp. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 2 days, then reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. Freezing isn’t recommended for texture. For a lighter option, swap half the butter for 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce while keeping the sugars and spices.
